Well maybe a few words…..
As the sunsets on another day, I try to soak in it’s beauty. I am glad the heat of the day goes with that sun, and I welcome the cool evening. The feathered pets run about looking for choice yard delicacies and the kids take the time to enjoy sharing space with their favorites. My sweet sister was kind enough to bring us portuguese sweet bread from her travels and we some how hadn’t gotten to it all, it had been well over a old though and while there was no sign of anything unwholesome, the last of it was a nice treat for the happy hens and chicks. My sister took home with her a lot of chicks thankfully as we have many. Our first broody hen hatched her chicks and is taking wonderful care of them. Mr. Handsome, our year old son, is our egg king, and finding himself dismayed this week at the short comings in egg production. We went from 6 eggs a day to now just three. I blame the heat. He blames the rain. Maybe it is a bit of both! He loves the chickens, all of us do, but he specially. I can tell as he is very sensitive to bugs and being outside and he braves it all to hunt down the eggs as our dear feathered ones don’t seem to like laying in the egg boxes we have made! We are going to have to try different ones soon.
It is peaceful and I am reminded we have so much to be thankful for, all my loves are happy and healthy. I am so thankful to my husband who makes it all possible, I dare say he is the reason I can relax and watch the sun set and wrap my life in love.
