A Touch of Baby Fever

What is Baby Fever? Is it real?

A study in the psychological journal Emotion claims that “baby fever” — that sudden, visceral, and almost irresistible urge to have a baby — not only exists, it can be found in both men and women. – Source
So maybe it is not at all crazy why I feel like I might have a touch of it myself! It might also be that my darling children are all away visiting with family and the house is all together too quiet! Of course it does not help when I see all these adorable baby photos of friends and family with new babies. One of the researchers on the study though said ““We looked at whether baby fever was due to people looking at someone else’s child and then having that trigger misplaced nurturance. But it wasn’t that either.” Meaning I can’t blame it on adorable baby photos either!

What ever the case may be one thing is for sure, I have been baby shopping for others and making a wish list of things I would love if ever I have another baby! Plus, my 2 year old needs a few things like a new rear facing car seat! I am thinking Britax Car Seats might be my best bet for her. Everyone raves about wonderful they are.
A bit of online window shopping never hurt anyone right?
Lollipop Lane has a line of Giraffe baby items that are just so darling and Gender neutral too. This is important as many of my friends and family are not telling anyone else what the gender of the baby is till after the birth. This means they get stuck with my love of Giraffes! The shop I found this great selection in is in the UK but they ship all over the world thankfully.
I know some of you have baby fever too. What are you doing about it? While reading about the study has not helped me one little bit with my baby cravings and it didn’t explain why I have them either, I think I might have a theory of my own.

This seems to hit my husband and I when our babies are about a year old, no longer nursing, and just so very adorable. Babies are always adorable of course but they become more interactive in exciting ways. We managed to get by that time frame feeling our family was complete however baby is now 2 and of course the cuteness just keeps growing and growing. Between all the kisses she gives us to seeing how she loves to do some of the same things we do, it just seems like we can’t get enough. With older children we know that the cuteness does in fact keep growing and growing. Maybe the cuteness is telling our bodies that biologically we need MORE and without breastfeeding helping us space them out further we are doomed to want adorable babies and all the adorable baby things for them!

I could always be wrong. One thing is clear, baby fever is very much real and goodness it is strong!

  1. I believe in baby fever because right after the birth of my daughter I found myself wanting another child but I wasnt able to because of complications.
