This is a cute e-book that my kids and I enjoyed, specially my 6 year old daughter. It has great sight words for kids learning to read and is short enough to be a great bed time story for little ones.
Terry Treetop is a little boy that loves trees. Don’t most kids? His Dad makes him a great tree house that he loves! (Warning to parents, a tree house might be against your home owners insurance…. so sadly! This though is not an issue in this book but I did want to mention it!) Our kids all love to climb but specially our oldest daughter who is soon to be 15. I think she likes to go up some place high for some time alone to think. I can’t blame her!
So Terry has a beautiful tree house but wants to share it with others. He wants friends. He goes around to different people/animals that are all busy.
He visited this bee that was busy filling pots with honey. I thought the book was very realistic I thought in that sometimes when a child wants to play that others are busy doing important things. As a parent it really bothered me when in the book it said Terry felt like no one WANTED to play with him rather than saying that they all have important work to do.
It took a kitten being stranded in a tree and Terry being he one to save it that brought everyone together and to see Terry’s tree house. I didn’t think it was very realistic in that way. Still however a very cute story and opens the topic up to talk with kids about the importance of understanding when people are doing important things!
