NaNoWriMo 2012 Winner

The insanity that is known as NaNoWriMo is officially over and many a writer find themselves fast asleep. Either they won, or they didn’t. In either case, I hope they sleep well, it is a battle hard won, and hard loss for many.

With an hour left on November 30th I managed to submit over 51,000 words and won this years NaNoWriMo for myself. Sadly I had to watch my writing buddies fall one by one and no others finished with me. It was a hard year, and impossible for some, be it computer issues, or double shifts, or the sad things that happen in our lives. There is always next year, if we are our little blue planet are lucky anyway. I am glad to have finally tied up my loss years with winning years, hopefully next year I can tip the scales into more wins than losses. It really isn’t easy, not when one has a life anyway.

I learned this year that going to write in’s and talking to published writers really helps. I wish I had done it more and maybe it would not have been so hard hitting the second week wall and then every day after that.

I put on the NaNoWriMo T-Shirt I had won for the most words written in the write in I did manage to get to as soon as I confirmed my win. I did a little dance even. I felt worthy of it. I pushed hard through a lot of things going on my life to get those words and they may not be pretty, but I wrote them, all of them.

Now to find some kind of brave bone in my body and get to finishing the novel and editing it. I at least have to try right? Honestly I am petrified to have anyone even glance at it. Maybe I will finish last years NaNoWrMo and edit that one instead. I don’t think it is any better but being that I wrote the other as a youth novel, it would be less embarrassing than this first try at a paranormal romance that ended up so confusing! Or I could do what a great writer of romance told me to do, and just publish without using my actual name!

No matter what I do next though, this year I have a NaNoWriMo Win! Thank you for the support.
