3 Summer Activities You Haven't Tried Before Image

Summer is the most enjoyable season of the year for families. The kids are out of school, and you are all together more than any other part of the year. The danger of the season is that it can pass you by in an instant if you are not careful. You need to enjoy as many activities as possible with your family to make the most of the summer. Try these three unique activities to bring your family together this summer.

1. Have a Camping Trip in the Backyard

Lots of families drive hours to camp in an area where they get eaten alive by mosquitoes while worrying about every little twig snap in the night. That doesn’t always create the most relaxing environment for your family. Why not camp in the backyard instead? You can set up the tent, build a campfire, lie out under the stars and do all the other fun camping things.

Instead of driving for hours and dealing with crowds, you can enjoy a wide open camping area on your own property. You can even turn it into a beach camping trip if you have a pool in your yard. Just spread out some sand around the edge to simulate the beach and put on your trunks. Remember that swimming shorts make the man on holiday. The best part is that you can head inside if you get cold or a bad storm hits.

2. Build a Backyard Mini Golf Course

Nothing says summer like playing some mini golf. Unfortunately, it seems a little harder to find mini golf courses every day. They are slowly disappearing from the world. You don’t need to search for one; you can build a course right in your own backyard. It really doesn’t take too much effort. You can get all the materials you need from the local hardware store, and you can get as creative as you want with the hole designs. Be sure to let the kids help to really make it a family project that you all can be proud of.

3. Make Homemade Ice Cream

You probably remember making homemade ice cream when you were a kid at your home or when you went to visit your grandparents. However, the odds are you haven’t done this essential summer activity with your children. It is an activity that seems to be disappearing from the fabric of our society. Bring it back by getting your own ice cream maker and putting it to good use.

There are thousands of creative recipes you can find online, and you can experiment with your own. The kids will absolutely love this activity, and you will have no problem bringing your family together over bowls of delicious homemade ice cream.

Sounds fun, we have made home made ice cream before. It was yummy and refreshing in the Summer heat and we all make the flavors we each like.

I love these ideas, unfortunately my daughter isnt the outdoors type. But I would love to do the backyard camping with her. The only time shell play outside is at the beach or playing putt putt there. lol teenagers!

We did camping in the back yard last summer for our 5 yr old and he had a blast! It was a tiny bit of work but worth the memory! I think this summer we’ll attempt to do the golf course! Such a fun idea! And yes we’ll have to try homemade ice cream…maybe do that on our camping day! Thanks for the ideas!
