Wild and Unexpected Christmas Party Fiascos

Wanting to host your corporate Christmas party at one of Melbourne Function Venues? Just beware of your party becoming too wild and crazy.

While some employees enjoy intermingling with their co-workers at a corporate Christmas party, others only suffer through it with large amounts of alcohol.  With these combinations, watch out for potential fiascos on the dance floor, suggestive copied pictures or drunken encounters with colleagues.

The Biggest and Craziest Christmas Party Fiascos

Alcohol generally plays a huge part in these festivities and alters guests’ thinking from a boss promising an employee a huge raise to an employee telling off the director due to the liquid courage. Read on to see some funny and astonishing party moments:

  • Interpersonal relationships may be exposed, where you’re a business executive and dating one of the partner’s solicitors but caught kissing one of the IT managers under the mistletoe instead.
  • You drank a little too much eggnog and a group of you decided to use the office copier to copy each other’s body parts, starting with each other’s butts, but then the photos surfaced around the party.
  • Formal Christmas parties usually mean wearing a dress and one year, a colleague was drunkenly dancing so hard in a circle that her skirt flew up and everyone got a peek.
  • Do you tend to get so drunk that you pass out? One colleague went into the restroom to relax for a few minutes, passed for hours, only to find out the party had ended and her ride had deserted her, so she sheepishly asked for assistance in getting a taxi.
  • At a holiday party celebrating Christmas and New Year’s, we had indoor sparklers during dinner to celebrate. Mine got to close to my napkin and sparked and when I panicked, I dropped it, and the spark scorched the carpet instead.
  • Playing a naughty game, similar to Truth or Dare opens up so many issues, as co-workers don’t usually share that much and when they do while drunk, you now have “dirt” on them come Monday morning.
  • We also sometimes invite potential clients and one year one of them kept hitting on me and trying to kiss me until the bartender was signalled to cut him off.
  • Alcohol often acts like liquid courage which was the case when a male colleague pretty much swore and told off the company director and verbally insulted several other co-workers. Then, he wondered why he didn’t a job the next day.

As you’re selecting the ideal Melbourne Function Venues, remember to select one that properly represents your company so that your employees will feel as comfortable as possible at the event. Perhaps you’d prefer a cocktail party with a few signature drinks and Australian appetizers versus a full buffet though those are an option too.

While most of these examples are funny, some of them can really destroy the dynamics of your workplace so it’s important when planning your corporate Christmas party that you don’t only think about fine dining, but you set some employee boundaries as well.

Unfortunately that liquid courage also seems to come along with equal parts liquid stupidity, doesn’t it?
