Thankful Challenge – Day 5

I live in a country that allows me to not agree with you! I am thankful!

16395_10152458693736179_870729479636026355_nI try not to post much on my blog about political things. We all have views and lets be honest, no one is asking me on my blog what political views I hold. They are e-mailing me to ask how to help little ones sleep better at night, what vacuum is best, where I got a certain outfit from a certain photo I posted online, or what breed of chickens I have that give me green eggs. Still, here I am sharing my thoughts on this because today I am thankful to be able to say that I don’t agree with the majority and I think this years elections are going to hurt the country I love.

In a country where there are still people who believe our President was born in Africa, or that he miss-managed aid after hurricane Katrina I shouldn’t be shocked that Republicans gained the Senate. We are not winning the race on this planet for education, and it shows sadly. I am asked why we homeschool, why we don’t want the village raising our children, and this, this is why. I want my children to grow up to help make the village better, but I don’t want the village to raise my children like this. I just don’t. We need to get back to helping people who need help, putting freedoms first but not corporations about all else. Corporations are not people and shouldn’t have more freedoms than our children do to clean water and clean air and safe homes and products. I could go on and on but really in the end I remind myself that I love my country so deeply and I just want better for it. At least I am still allowed to disagree with the masses!
