Summer Tip for Homeschoolers and Large Families

Get Memberships!

Having a large family can be costly and homeschooling a large family certainly isn’t cheap. Often I hear about parents saying they are stuck at home, don’t have money to go out, and this saddens me greatly. There are so many amazing museums, zoos, and aquariums to enjoy and if you get a membership your family can go back again and again.

For my family of 6 it is almost always cheaper for us to buy a membership some place than to just pay for tickets. We sometimes even buy memberships to places that are in other states close to relatives we visit so we can go back when ever travel. My children specially love the Children’s museum in Providence when ever we visit family up that way. My 5 year old daughter has specially been asking to go these last few days as she knows we are soon traveling north and she doesn’t want us to forget.

  The Possible Perks of Membership

Many places offer perks for being members. Discounts in the gift shops and to other attracts but also sometimes special members only events. This past week while I have been trying to take a break from busy reality I went to one such event with my husband and 2 of our children. (Just two because I need some mental health time and our youngest daughter still gets overwhelmed often on field trips) We went to a Members Only evening at the Baltimore National Aquarium. I loved being there after the normal hours and evening hours during a week day work wonderfully with my husband working all day so we could go together and spend some bonding time with two our children. They love the special attention. With large families I think it is very important that all the kids get special time with Mom and Dad to be the center of attention. You should check out what local memberships are in your area to enjoy and go as often as you can!
