They just love being outside, playing, exploring, seeking out adventures and entertaining their curiosity. It is why they are celebrated as being the best breed for outdoor junkies.
However, letting your guard down in the summer months can be seriously dangerous for your dog’s health, especially if you are traveling with them. A weekend city break, a fortnight of camping or a summer of hopping over different state lines; it doesn’t matter. Making sure your dog is well looked after should be the top of the priority pile and, to help make this easier for you, we have come up with essential advice. Visit The Vet
It could be that you need to have proof of up to date vaccines and a certificate to say they are all good in the hood, but it is also worth getting your pup checked out just for peace of mind. So schedule a visit before you leave, get a once over and ask for any advice they have while you’re there.
Food And Treats
If there is one thing that can crush your adventurous spirit it is going to be a puppy that has an upset tummy or digestive issues. To prevent this from happening, your best bet is to bring the food and treats you use at home, as well as their dish too. You never know, right?
Phone First
Whether you like it or not, a lot of places don’t allow pets. Campsites, Airbnb listings, hotels, motels; all of these will have their own policies, so it’s best to phone ahead and just make sure before you depart with your money and depart for their lodgings.
First Aid Kit
There are plenty more risks in the summer, and that is something you need to be aware of and prepare for. Travel trays for them to drink from, flea medication for dogs, cool blankets that they can lie on, spray bottle to douse them with, tweezers for splinters and anything else that you think will reduce your chances of being caught out by an unforeseen risk.
Dogtags
When you are traveling away from home, it is even more important for your dog to be wearing a lead and nametag. They will be in unfamiliar territory, so make sure all the relevant information is clearly displayed and up to date. This means the dog’s name, your name, address, phone number, email, allergies and even their favorite food.
Leash Or Lead
In order to reduce your chances of your lovely Siberian Husky pup getting lost, or running away – which is more common than you may think when traveling with a dog – we recommend you always put them on a leash when away from the car. This isn’t just to prevent them getting lost, it is also to prevent them getting hurt.
