Sept 10th — Sugar Glider Diet

One of the cutest things on the plant has got to be sugar gliders. They are not an easy pet and anyone that says they are must be trying to sell you something. They are not like a cat or dog or bunny. You can not or rather should not be buying a bag of dry food as their main diet. These animals need fresh foods daily and they need to be balanced correctly. The math for this is fairly simple if you know basic things about the foods you should feeding your glider. I am however not out to make a glider page just inform those who know us what we feed ours.

We feed wombaroo (This is a powder blended with eggs, honey, bee pollen) in the correct amounts. This is stored in the freezer and given each night.
We also add a Tablespoon each of a veggie blend and fruit blend.

We also give treats, in the photo above Petal is getting a meal worm. We get them from pet shops and I tend to dump a few into the cover of the container they come in and serve them that way. The gliders go a bit crazy for them and I rather keep my fingers. Though not all owners have this issue, Petal however is not a tame glider so this is best for her as well.

This advice might not be the advice you have seen online. Please though remember I am not trying to sell you anything and most people who push bags of food are. They are the same people that will tell you it is ok to keep a glider alone and that simply isn’t true. They are colony animals and need at least one animal of their own kind. I could go on and on. Please do your research and beware the so called experts with fancy videos and those selling these animals as pets in places like the mall and expos.
