Review — Organic PreFolds

I must admit that is has been a long time since I used a prefold! I dug out my snappi to secure the front and went about laying baby down, giving her a toy to distract her while I tried to remember how. There are more than a few ways to prefolds so if one way doesn’t work, try another I reminded myself.
One of the first thing I noticed about this organic diaper is how soft it is. After prepping this diaper in pre-washes I thought it might lose some of the softness but that is not the case at all. It shrunk just a bit but that is expected and explained on the site these are sold on!

Organic Cotton Prefolds
Babee Greens prefolds are made from super soft, absorbent organic cotton twill flannel.
After I think I managed to secure it well enough, baby was off and running. Something to note if you don’t know already, a prefold is the absorbing part of a diapering system. Prefolds require a leak proof cover! My choice is normally breathable wool covers. For the sake of taking photos however I did not cover the diaper, feel free to laugh at my rather winged job! With shorties (wool cover) I would not even bother to correct wings around the legs as they would be firm to her body at that point.
My little happy baby did not care one little bit that she was being followed by Mommy and the camera, the diaper didn’t slow her down a bit and she didn’t give it much thought even. The diaper being organic helps me feel more eco-friendly and gives me no guilt about using it as I know there are no chemicals in it like with disposables that could harm her or irritate her skin.
One of the cheapest diaper stashes anyone can have is a prefold one in my opinion. You can get many of them for fairly little money and they last a very long time. Check out the prices on these organic ones:
Two sizes available.

Small      15 x 13 (before washing)           $6.50 ea.
                14 x 11 (after washing)
$38.00/6 diapers    or   $74.00/12 diapers

Regular  19 x 16 (before washing)           $7.50 ea.
                17 x 15 (after washing)
$44.00/6 diapers     or   $85.00/12 diapers

I often joke that hard core crunchy mothers have prefold stashes as for me they take the longest though if you fold them into a cover they do not have to. Many prefold mothers though use them with wool covers, and many of them make the wool covers themselves. Buying already knit wool covers can be costly but you only need a few and can reuse them over and over while just changing the prefolds under them if they do not get soiled or overly damp! You can also get very cost effective snap and velcro covers along with fleece covers. There are many opinions!
So if you think you can not cloth diaper because it is too cost to start, think again! Start with Prefolds and a few covers and you will be saving yourself a lot of money!
Personally, prefolds are not my favorite and I tend to use them as changing pads, but that is just me and my opinion could always change! Do you know some super mom with a Prefold stash?
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
