Review on GetRWP.com Real World Prep, Homeschoolers

My teen and I attended another webnar by the older brother of GetRWP.com as it is a curriculum she thinks she might be interested in it. We did learn a bit and it a bit inspiring too. In short the message is that kids can start to prep for the real world now and that the best way, or their best way, is to be in business for yourself. It gave a few simple ways like e-bay that could work and promised more with their 12 month program that one can get for $97 monthly, or near $600 I believe for all 12 months and life time access to that site. I am others asked a few questions like how can a minor get a ebay account and as I thought, they can’t legally so the advice is to use a parents. Same question about paypal, same response. My paypal account though is also a business account and while I adore my daughter, that can get messy enough as is you know? I need things clean and clear and I think she does to. Another turn off of the program is that Month 1 is all about the mindset, it sounds like it is about talking oneself into believing and making one think if they fail, it is on them, not the system. That seemed to be a message we heard at least three times in the two hour webnar and that bothered me. I worry that it would be more programming and less motivational. I find motivation to be in the doing and so a month on working on the mind set again, seems a bit lacking to me. The next issue was that Month 4 is all about realestate and how to get into that world and sell short sales and such. My daughter was confused but this and I admit I was to, this program says it is for homeschoolers even as young as 7. What would a 7 year old need to spend a month learning about this? I could see it as an elective in high school but not for my 12 year old. I asked if we could skip months on the month to month plan and the reply was no.

On to the biggest thing that stood out about this, we did not learn till the very end, in a time for questions that the whole 12 months is not even finished being created. It only goes to month 5 right now. I remember our first webnar with them being around the holidays. How much did they have 5 months ago I wonder? So they are selling a product that is not complete, as if it was. Why would I pay near $600 when over half of what I am paying for is not yet created? This bothered me. My daughter however was still interested and was in hopes she could just snooze through month 4 and maybe go back to it if she ever finds interest in it.

So after the webnar we went looking for reviews. We didn’t find any. Infact the sites about the program are lacking a lot of the normal information such as an “about us” page and “contact” information beyond the information for buying. They have a few other sites, mirror sites, and all seem to be the same, though at least one has a real bad HTML issue. Not impressed so far.

So I thought I would share our over all experience so far while we keep looking into this. I do believe a lot of is said on the webnar but not yet willing to buy into it when just so little is known about them. After all, being a homeschooling mother I must be responsible for my child’s education and this curriculum is not even finished yet.

Maybe your have a different experience with them? We would love to hear about it.

As always, I could be wrong and I am really in hopes that my concern about jumping into getrwp.com is my simply motherly worry.

Hi, I listed to the same webinar but the not very end. Thanks for posting that the product is not completely finished. It is also pretty hard to find the website and like you said, it does not seem very informative. I resonated with much of what he said and his ideas make sense but I too am a little concerned about handing over $600 when even he doesn’t know what the final product will be. Please post if you learn more or if you decide to ‘take the plunge’. Thanks!! Laura

I wanted to update here with something so I do not forget later while still looking into this. Today Nathan Jurewicz sent out an e-mail about a 18 year old using his system and e-publishing on Amazon and how amazing it was and then he adds:

In my line of business I sell the majority of my products to full grown adults and I don’t mind sharing with you that less than 5% actually take action.

It gives me an uneasy feeling, as if he is blaming others and does not consider that his products might need improvement or that they are not one size fits all. -shrug-

We talked with him on the phone, and thought long and hard about it, and decided to go ahead and buy because our son was very interested in entrepreneurship. Trying to access the site dragged on for months and months, and more months. There was a “glitch” in the system, you know. They finally fixed it, but it had been so long that our son was not interested and we were just tired of the whole thing. I checked today, because I thought maybe we could start up, since we paid for LIFETIME access, and I can’t find the site, Nathan’s blog was last updated two years ago, his FB page was last update two years ago, and the contact link on his blog no longer works.

We are normally pretty careful about where we spend our money, and this time we just goofed.
