One of the perks to moving to GA I have learned is that there are still drive-ins here! There is actually 2 of them about an hour from where I live near Augusta GA. Though both are on the other side of the Savannah river, meaning in South Carolina. Still, they are not too far and the one in Greenwoods is wonderful! For the cost of one movie you can see up to 3 movies in one evening on Fridays and Saturdays and two on Sunday. We went last Sunday night. We arrived just a half hour before the movie would start half worried there would be no good placed to park but instead we found the place near empty. This was a bit concerning but the owners let us know that Sundays are their dead night and they just open because they love it. So the other nights are packed and with this in mind I think we will keep going to Sunday night shows!

So the parking was easy and the spots have nice up hill bumps so you can tilt your car back and see the screen even in the back seat. It was a little tricky for our smaller kids in the way back of the van but they managed. Next time our oldest wants to sit on the roof and with the place so quiet on such nights I think I will let her!

So the way most drive-ins make money and how we can all help keep them alive is by buying food there. This Drive-In charges $8 to bring in your own food, and we did, so we paid it. We also though got a lot of food from their food stand and it was all great. Nice hot fries and great burgers. Even the fish one my husband said he loved. The service was above and beyond to make sure we had a great time and got everything we wanted. With 4 kids that is no easy task!

We watched one cartoon Mr. Peabody I think it was called and then the one we really wanted to see, The Lego Movie. My husband had worried that after the drive there and the first movie that at least a few of the kids would be asleep for the second but none of them fell asleep till the ride home! My goodness did we laugh watching The Lego movie and most of us kept laughing on the way home. The whole experience was wonderful and we hope to be going back soon.

This post is all my opinion about an experience my family paid for like everyone else. The owners don’t know I am reviewing them. I mention this because sometimes bloggers gush over a product or company because they have a special relationship with them, and sometimes that is not the same experience others get. This is just me sharing how our family movie night went.

With a 3 year old who isn’t yet fit for public movie theaters due to a few tantrums still the Drive-In was the perfect option for us. Maybe it would be for your large family too?
