Political News: Rep Todd Akin
I do not often share political news here but I think that as a Mother and this being a parenting blog that this news needs to be talked about.
Victims of “legitimate rape” can’t get pregnant because a woman’s body will shut down and prevent the pregnancy. Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) actually said that.
Just reading it feels like an attack of some kind. As if any women who has ever gotten pregnant after a rape was some how “wanting it” rather than the truth of them simply surviving it.
I can’t help but comment on the stupidity of the statement and worry about the future my daughters have in a country with leaders who think or rather don’t think, about things like this. The things some will say to try and control the female body…. it is just mind blowing that people think like this. Isn’t this man supposed to be educated? I starting to think that indeed some peoples degrees mean nothing but the money someone paid for them and not the work that one was supposed to put into them.
Please MO, get this guy out of office… protect our country, our daughters, our future from those who blindly believe and blindly would force those beliefs on others with caveman thinking like this.
