A Perfectly Silly Dinner! Great on April Fool’s Day!

This very silly dinner makes a great joke for April Fool’s Day or any day!

Who doesn’t love a bit of silly fun? Most people pull pranks and jokes like this one on April Fool’s Day, but we are weird, so we did when the kids least expected it!

This prank is great for kids and adults and it is very easy to pull off!

First we made cup cakes and then grilled cheese. And we told our 3 children they could eat what ever one they want first.

And of course the children all picked the cupcakes. Who would have guessed! LOL

The cupcakes where actually meatloaf with mashed potato “frosting” dyed with food coloring.  The grilled cheese was lemon pound cake and yellow/orange frosting. It was a great dinner. I can’t rave enough about the meat loaf, it was so yummy as was the sauce on it and the mashed potatoes using evaporated milk (Never did that before) the best I have ever had. Just some food coloring fun added to them was all.

My 2 year old loved most the potatoes, eating them as if she thought they where frosting. My 4 year old however kept telling me I messed up the cupcakes and even though we explained the blue stuff was potatoes and he loves those it took me adding blue flood coloring to a drink for him to see them as “safe” to eat. Our oldest loved the whole meal and thought the silly dinner a great idea. She is of course looking for ways to get back at us!

Update: It is now 2017 and the kids still love this meal and prank. They pull it on their friends even. The meatloaf cupcakes are now a tradition too, minus the food coloring more often than not. One of the great things about meatloaf cupcakes is that they make great and easy left overs. My husband packs a few up and takes them to work to reheat there.

Do you want to try Meatloaf Cupcakes This April Fool’s Day?
