October 16th — Mini Candy Apples

Oh for the joy of Fall and Apple fun!

This project I did with my husband, my almost 4 year old and almost 6 year old. By far my husband was the hardest to wrangle. More about this soon. Please forgive me for the amateur photos.

Needed:

– 4 large apples (organic is best!)
– Melting candy pieces or chocolate
– Caramel pieces
– melon baller
– what ever you want to put on them at the end.
– Tin foil or Wax paper
– Candy sticks from crafting/baking shop or took picks.

Maybe space them closer together than I did on this one. The kids are happy to eat the rest of the apple, the bunny and hamsters and sugar gliders helped too!
Just dig out roundish little apple pieces with the melon baller. Dig them deep! Dry the pieces well!

Melt your candy chocolate as directed. Stick your sticks into the colored ends of the apple pieces. Smoothly dip the apple pieces in the chocolate and then put them on the tin foil cover plate. When all are done, stick them in the fridge till hard.

Use what ever you think is best, I washed and cut an egg carton so I would have two sides for my two helping with this. Get your toppings ready. We used a few kinds of nuts and lots of junk. Yummy junk.

Melt your caramel as instructed, unless your cool enough to make it yourself! Dip your apple pieces in the caramel in smooth movements, set on another foil plate. Give it a minute and then let the kids go topping crazy!

Now this is where you need to be careful! If you made as many pieces as I did than you had two plates in the fridge. So while your finishing up with the first one with the kids, watch the helpful husband who takes the rest of your caramel and washing it down the sink! Oh yes…. he did that. Had me and 2 littles barking at him about that one! LOL I keep telling him he needs to try and make us some more because I mess up caramel every time I try it. LOL Think he will?

Enjoy! 🙂

Those look so yummy! We picked 150 apples a week ago! I made 10 jars of applesauce so far, maybe I’ll do this with some of the leftover. Thanks for stopping by http://www.mama-press.com.

Aww I love this idea. I can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to make these with me. Right now shes only old enough to eat these.

Yummy idea. Stopping by from MBC, love the egg carton idea. Haven’t seen that before. I wonder if it’d work for decorating cake pops, too? I’ll have to try!
