There is a new kids game on the market called Not Parent Approved and it is a hysterical! It is a bit like Apples to Apples and a kids version of Cards Against Humanity. While the title says Not Parent Approved, it is filled with silly topics kids can relate too and parents shouldn’t actually have a problem with, unlike some other games.
I found myself interested in this game because last Christmas a child in our family circle begged for Cards Against Humanity and while she is newly a teenager, I didn’t think it was a great idea. She was gifted it by someone and quickly learned for herself that it is in fact NOT a kids game, and she didn’t at all like it. This game however I think is perfect for her and lots of kids who like silly fun. I can’t wait to play it with her!
Ages 8 and Up
4 – 10 Players
We have been enjoying playing this game with kids and friends and so far, everyone thinks it is hysterical! I can’t say I love all the cards, some of the question cards I think are just too long for younger kids. The box says it is for players 8 years and older and I agree. We played this with our 6 year old who can read amazingly well, and she did like it, but she didn’t mentally understand it all and when playing with many people she got a bit distracted. Our 8 year old, 10 year old, 17 year old, parents and others all loved it though. The pace of the game is great, you can play a short game or a long one. We like the house rule of the person who gets to 5 cards first wins!
You start the game with 7 cards, rather standard, but then game play starts with the person who can burp the best, they become the burp boss and they go first. This of course starts the game with a lot of laughs and we democratically pick the winner of the burp contest!
Check out the images for a look at some of the cards!
Includes 455 cards (2×3 inches) that are a bit smaller than standard sized playing cards, perfect for little kids hands I think.
A game that made us all laugh so much!
Fantastic and Fun Kids Card Game
Who Would Love This Game?
In our very experienced opinion on fun games and family time we strongly recommend this game for any child that loves to be silly. All they need to be able to do is be able to read and take turns! This game of course helps them with both of those important skills. Being great at burping helps too actually but as someone who can’t burp on command I promise it did not really hinder my game.
One of the interesting things I discovered while playing was that this game helps me see more into the minds of my children, and their friends. The things I predicted they would have a certain opinion about one way, I learned differed as they have grown. I think this truly a bonding game as well beyond the silly side of it.
If you are shopping for grandparents I would also recommend this game for them. Not only can they have silly fun with their grand children but their friends too. Laughter keeps us young as they say!
Laughter like this is priceless!
You should try this game!
