My Fibromyalgia is worse when I eat Wheat!

When I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I was in denial. I ended up trying many medications and in the end I asked one of my Doctors a simple question, is there any kind of diet that might help with my pain. The response was a flat out no. When I asked him about it again, mentioning that others have asked if I tried changing my diet, he said there is no evidence that any nutritional changes help. I put the idea aside for a while.

The pain got so bad, and I had so many people ask me if I was gluten free yet that I though to try giving up gluten on my own. I did it for near a month, though at the time I didn’t know about the hidden gluten I was eating. I ended up stopping thinking that Doctor was right.

Months later when a friend who is training to be a health coach mentioned it and helped me wrap my mind around it I thought I would try. I read up on it a lot better the second time though. After over a month I had only had a bad flare up once, the first week. I wasn’t ready to say it was working though.

The I tried to cut out sugars too, I didn’t do so well. After 2 weeks on a sugar detox I failed and ended up eating everything I shouldn’t, even gluten. I had gluten for a week and the pain is now amazing. I am sure, 100% positive that gluten makes my fibromyalgia worse. I am not saying it is the cause, and it is not gone when I am gluten free, but I am function so much better! So now I am back to being gluten free, and I am making plans to try the sugar detox again in a few days too. Wish me luck!

If you have a cronic illness and have not changed your diet, think about it. What could it hurt? What might it help?
