More Sensory Fun!

This time we used magnets in our home made sensory table box. Really it is a bin on the floor but it gets the job done. Our rainbow rice from weeks back is still in great shape and we have not lost much of it shockingly, even with the children playing with it often.
For this learning play session we added magnetic wands that some know as bingo wands and the magnetic bingo pieces. We experimented with kitchen items trying to figure out what was magnetic and what was not and then we focused on the box. We dumped in and covered over the magnetic bingo pieces and then the children collected them by hunting them with the wands. They sorted by colors, counted, and made up with own rules and games and the fun went on for hours in one sitting. I was thrilled of course.
This was a great pre-k lesson and my Kinder and even 6th grader had fun with the sensory box.

We will be mailing out some wands and magnetic and non magnetic items in a “busy bag” swap soon to other Preschoolers we are in a group with. We are looking forward to playing with the busy bags they send to us!
