Imbolc — Candle Making With Children

Imbolc and Candlemas was celebrated at home home by a wide range of homeschoolers of different faiths. Not all before this day where aware that my family has some pagan beliefs of the female divine and reverence for the earth and nature and Love of Science. I think some got almost overwhelmed by the different world. One as it turns out, is yet another sister soul I think, just on a different path. If we where not moving I think we would end up being such close friends, even though she is very very faithfully Christian. Yet another amazing person I am blessed with meeting.

Back to our candle morning. We had a great time making candles, a few messes, and wonderful colors. Some had no idea how, and now they do. They also have a little history of the holidays surrounding first spring.

My oldest daughter and I spent the rest of the week making more candles together but I was still not brave enough to let her do much around the stove. She is only 8 after all. I think maybe I am a tad over protective and need to trust her a tad more with her safety as she does understand the concepts of the kitchen dangers.

May the light growing stronger in the sky, remind us to let the light in ourselves grow stronger too. The dark does not go on forever if we look for the light.
