Hungry Shark World – Video Game Review – OMG the Giggles!

Welcome to a new crazy game to delight MOST of the family! In this fast paced game of shark shenanigans you get to be one of 20 sharks swimming in the ocean and of course eating all the things! You have so many choices and missions to unlock further fun.

Hungry Shark World Review — This game will let you eat all the things, but will not eat your life!

One of the things I love about this game is you can pick it up, play for a bit, and put it down. It doesn’t take over your life! It doesn’t take too long to die, regear, and play again and again. In this way the whole family can take turns and cheer one another on!

In Hungry Shark World there are 4 different areas to play in, 3 of them you must unlock first to play. Each shark brings a new way to play in each area though. Just when I think I have it all figured out I unlock a new shark or new item and can do more things! A shark flying through the sky to eat the birds is a crazy feeling!

Now you might be wondering what the play is like, I do not have a video for you, but picture Super Mario Bros in a flat world with so many power ups and things to do. It is fantastic fun!

Hungry Shark World Available now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch

So everyone in our family except the baby who is 3 loves this game. She was horrified that sharks eat people and that we would be sharks eating all the things. After we calmed her down about the people eating, she lost her dear mind over us eating turtles when she told us not to. It was days before she understood we had to play the game a certain way! She was so cute and grumpy about it! LOL

The rest of us were happy enough taking turns on the same Nintendo Switch account to advance together. It is fun to get on and see my son or husband or one of our daughters had unlocked something new and that it can do something exciting. It is crazy how hard it can seem till you get a new shark and suddenly you feel like queen of the sea! (and air for that matter!)

Everyone in the house loves this game, except the 3 year old. It isn’t really scary or gory but it might not be for every child. Of course it brings up a whole lot of great conversations about the realities of sharks and what they can do and what they rather eat. I don’t think this game will make anyone anti-shark. If you remember from past posts some of my kids already don’t swim in the ocean thanks to my love of documentaries and shark week! This didn’t tip that in any new directions thankfully. It is just a fun, challenging, new video game we have really enjoyed. It is worth every penny of the $9.99 to get it.

Wishing you lot of happy gaming!

  1. My daughter, oddly enough, is obsessed with sharks. She always has been. Maybe that is why she is a biology major. lol I seriously want to get this for her. It looks like fun and for $10, you can’t beat it! 🙂

  2. It’s funny to hear the stories about your three year old. My brother gave up baths after watching “Jaws”. He was sure the shark was going to come up through the drain.

  3. I love games that don’t overtake your life. The price is right, too. Thanks for sharing a great gift idea.
