How to Choose the Best Babymoon Destination for Your Couple Style

A babymoon is a trip you take with your spouse or partner while you’re pregnant. It’s considered the last big adventure you have before you become parents, your last chance to kick up your heels. It’s not so different from a regular vacation, except there’s a more exciting element involved and there are important things to think about before booking your big trip.

Adventurous couples can still enjoy an adventure, even when they’re expecting. You just have to exercise caution, because you can’t do everything you enjoyed before you were pregnant. Activities like base-jumping, snowboarding, and white water rafting are pretty much verboten, but there are plenty of other exciting activities you can enjoy. If you go on a hike or a safari, just stay prepared. Don’t go too far off the grid, take a phone, and keep your contact information close. Before finding cheap airfare to book this excursion or any other, make sure your doctor deems it safe.

A foodie holiday makes a fantastic babymoon for any gourmet or gourmand couples. Can you imagine traveling to San Francisco, New York City, Paris, or Rome, eating your way through all the best food markets and restaurants? You just have to follow your doctor’s advice and avoid all those foods that are bad for you and the baby. For instance, stay away from too much seafood and avoid anything with mercury. Don’t eat any kind of undercooked meat, pass on too many nuts, watch your sugar intake, and should you find yourself in Paris, stay away from the cheeses.

If you’re tired of morning sickness, swollen ankles, an aching back, and feelings of fatigue, use your babymoon to pamper yourself. Beach holidays are ideal, just don’t spend too much time in the sun and protect yourself with sunscreen. You can also book a spa vacation, especially at a place that specializes in prenatal massage and other luxuries. Then again, anything that makes you feel relaxed is perfect, so your options are limitless.

Speaking of spas and prenatal pampering, you might choose to go on a holiday that benefits the baby. You and your partner can book a stay somewhere that offers lamaze classes, baby health classes, and things of that nature. You can learn about breastfeeding, making your own baby food, and other helpful lessons. It’s simply a great time to relax and detox, so you need to do something that benefits the entire family—the parents and your new bundle of joy. You can learn some really valuable recipes, techniques, and baby care tips while spending time together.

Your life is about to drastically change, so whether you’re three months or eight months pregnant, it’s a great time to take time for yourself and your partner. Reconnect, spend time together as a couple before you become parents, and enjoy yourself.

My husband and I just drove 2 hours to a Bed and Breakfast right on the ocean and relaxed and had some good eats! Wish we could have done a Babymoon with number 2.

I wish we had done this when I was expecting – it is a wonderfully bonding experience for soon to be parents.

I love the idea of a Babymoon. It would be great to spend time as a couple and get a little fun and pampering before baby’s arrival.
