I wanted to send a reminder out to my readers who might be buying costly toys for their young ones this holiday season. Get the insurance. Many places offer some kind insurance on toys.
I used to think this was a waist but more and more it has become a must for my family. My children have killed 2 iPads, 2 laptops, lost a DS3, killed another DS3, and just scratched beyond repair a android tablet. Lets not count all the DVDs and video games lost in the war on toys.
Most of that was thankfully covered under insurance, sadly though the two laptops, one was beyond the insurance time, and the other was not purchased with any as it was not offered from the place we got it from. Today that tablet I mentioned was scratched like you would not believe and again, it was purchased from a retailer that doesn’t offer insurance. Knowing this was for a child, I should have shopped smarter. I am kicking myself for my over sight.
We buy these cool gadgets and fun toys and they live such short lives. It is not because the children are destructive … wait, I take that back, the toddler really is, but the olders try hard to do the right thing and take care of toys, things just happen. I can’t put into words the relief one has when something breaks and you know for sure it is covered, so it is really ok, just a trip to a store to replace or send off for repair.
The 3DS that was broken went out last week as it would not turn on, it was mailed out by the store and in two days we had a refurbished one in great shape. In the past we have taken ipads in and walked out with new ones, no issues. If we are going to buy big, we also need to buy smart. So my advice, don’t skip the toy insurance, it pays for itself in the end more often than not, at least in my home it does.
