Health in a Hand Basket

One of my favorite Doctors understands that health can come from vitamins and herbs as much as they can from modern pharmaceuticals. It is often sad that because vitamins and herbs and other natural treatments can not be patented, it is as if modern medicine ignores them because they can not make a large profit on them. I am glad my Doctor looks beyond profits to help his patience. I think we need to use more vitamins to help us but I am not a Doctor, so don’t take my word for anything, ask your own Doctor and be sure to do your research!

If your like me, chances are you have many natural things to help with health. I have a basket near my bed with things I need to not forget, these things tend to change with time. For now some of the things in my basket of health are Vit D, Omega Oils, Garlic Oil, peppermint essential oil, homeopathic Arnica to name a few.

Vit D is something I am very low on, it seems I am always low on this. Many people are though so this does not make me special. The difference though might be that I know I am low on it and most people don’t get tested. Vit D deficiency is linked to bone pain and muscle weakness. As I already have fibromyalgia, I don’t need a Vit D deficiency making it worse. So I take this in hopes I can get my numbers back up to good. Low Vitamin D is also linked with: Increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease, Cognitive impairment in older adults, Severe asthma in children and even Cancer.

What I need to add next are B vitamins for mental and emotional support. They help with many things like converting glucose into usable energy for the body, can help with anxiety, they help with amino acids that are needed for hormones, helps prevent certain kinds of anemia, and more. In short, it is rather easy to not get enough of these, and really hard to get too much of them. So they are next on my list to add.

If you think there is anything else I should be adding, let me know!

  1. Random Act Of Kindness

I just found out I was vitamin D deficient (15 when it is supposed to be 30-100), and probably have been for some time. I’ve had joint pain for 2 years and I’m hoping fixing this will help. But, my Dr. still thinks its an autoimmune disorder. Time will tell… Great post! 🙂
