Guest Post: Travelling & Datespot Hunting

Dating is a breeze if you know what you’re looking for and you know to treat that special someone – the only difficulty is the location! There are hundreds of getaways and secret locations within the UK that would be ideal for a first date, but discovering those that suit you is a little tricky. So ask yourself this – what do you look for in a date?

#1 – The Fun Date

If you’re looking to have some fun and simply enjoy a night out with your potential partner or perhaps even someone a little more temporary there are some perfect venues in and around UK – here we take a look at the often overlooked city of Birmingham!

Some of the best and busiest venues in Birmingham for you to treat your first date to are those that host live music events but include a bar – examples of this are the Yardbird and The Sunflower Lounge. Both of these locations are within the centre of Birmingham so they’re easy enough to get to – the drinks are reasonably priced too!

#2 – The Romantic Date

One of the most common, but most boring dates for first timers to go on is the romantic dinner date! A romantic date shouldn’t necessarily be an outdoorsy ‘one with nature’ date, nor does it have to be a romantic dinner for two complete with candlelight and a vase that obstructs your view of your date’s face. Of course, if that’s what you’re in to I recommend the Botanical Gardens within Birmingham for romance and a fumble in the foliage or Edmund’s in Brindleyplace to watch each other eat and judge the opposition on their manners.

On the other hand, a walk along the canal as dusk falls can be just as enchanting as, if not better than small talk and slurred words over drinks at one of Birmingham’s bars. Walking and talking isn’t just an excellent way to retain each other’s attention, it also acts as a sort of therapy so you will be much more relaxed and open with your date.

#3 – Travel and Tourism – Appreciating the City

More often than not we will take our home city for granted and become blind to the beauty that it holds; take your date on a tour of the city, show them your favourite places and the best views. This makes for an ideal first date as they will see your passion and the depth of your personality; this is one of the quickest ways for them to fall for you.

On the other hand think about each location before taking the to it – you want to excite and motivate your date, not bore them to death by taking them to a local park that has no view of activities for you to take part in.

Look for heights – dates that incorporate large heights such as a rooftop restaurant or a hiking trail that allows you to look out over the city will give you peace and quiet as you are away from the rest of the world and able to converse without being overheard.

#4 – The Contemporary Date

So you’re both into art and have a great taste in films – why not check out Birmingham’s Electric Cinema? The Electric Cinema is one of the oldest cinemas within the UK but if so contemporary that you can order cocktails during the film… by text!

Or – hang in there – Broadway Casino! One of the biggest and best casinos in Birmingham that offers not only a great night out for those looking to spend money but also for those who simply enjoy the atmosphere of such a place. By bringing your date to the Broadway Casino you can ensure a great time and perhaps if you’re lucky; a second date too. The key to finding a contemporary date that both of you will enjoy is to think of something that could do with your friends; as right now that’s all you and your potential partner are.

There are plenty of other options in and around Birmingham for you to trial; but for the best experience you must live in the moment and enjoy what Birmingham has to offer.
