Gaming week for a Geek Mommy

This green geekly goddess mommy has a secret. She at times games hard online with old friends from old military posts and of course her dear hotty geek husband. This week is special, there is an online event in the game we play that makes the experience so good that some players took a week out of work or school and are trying to grind as much as they can this week.

I am not exception. At least my late owl hours are helpful in this en devour. I gained over 11 very high levels thanks to some items and this event in just 6 hours of game time in the last 24. A girl has to sleep of course and there are children to care for and homeschool lessons to be done.

I felt badly when a local friend asked if we could get together tonight and I had to let her know we are busy. She asked about the weekend and I had to admit what my husband and I plan to be up to all weekend. Lots of coffee and game time with old friends so far away all weekend too. One friend was just deployed to Korea actually and he is working on getting online securely so he can play. Goodness the time difference is going to mess with us all I think. It is not just adults that play but some of the adults teen children do as well. It is very interesting and a lot of fun.

Our 6 year old though not big on reading yet wants to play too. Having not set him up an account yet he is biding his time with his little 4 year old sister by pretending to be a character and pretending to make levels like we are. He loves to watch. He is such a gamer and his little sisters look like they will be too. For a geek kid he sure as heck has a wild and wonderfully full imagination. Pretend play is alive and well in our home, despite the screen time and all the technology and gaming. It really all goes well together more often than not. I keep reading in waldorf circles and a few other parenting groups that it shouldn’t and I am not sure what to say to them other than that for us it really works.

So this week you will find most of my family huddled in our home gaming and the other children having a blast with pizza and munchies and playing in between lessons and work and cleaning. I might not be online much till next week, but I will try to be the do it all girl!

This is definitely an interesting article. It amazes me that you are able to do all that gaming with kids around. Sounds like they are very well-behaved, self-entertaining children.

Our children are homeschooled so they take free time and run with it when they get it! LOL We limit TV so they take all the chances they get to watch that too with us busy! LOL We have had gaming friends though stop gaming though because they couldn’t handle both. Thankfully we manage both for the most part. (Ignore the crumbs in the sofa!)
