Meal Time With Baby

Having started solid foods with 5 babies now I can tell you that there is no magical age that they are ready. Like the best health organizations I too recommend waiting till 6 months before starting solids. Some babies are ready then, some babies need even more time! I don’t think there is any perfect way of starting but we like starting with blended up avocado and of course bananas. Check with your babies pediatrician for their recommendations! Some mamas make all their own baby food, some mamas provide baby with what they are eating that meal more or less, and some moms like me use a wide range of feeding options including premade baby foods from companies like Gerber.

My beautiful chunky monkey loves food! Unlike some of her other siblings she isn’t really picky though sometimes textures take her a bit of getting used to. I love baby food blends as I often don’t have time to get all those fresh ingredients together and have time to make them into baby food. Not like I can cut up raw sweet potatoes and and hand them to her, a lot of the flavors I want her to have need to be cooked and with 5 kids and homeschooling I don’t have much time in the kitchen. So this is where this recipe came from! Don’t be shy about mixing foods you make with ready to serve baby foods!

Recipe: Slow Cooker Steal Cut Oatmeal for Baby (and the whole family)

Ingredients:

2 Cups Steal Cup Oats

2 Cups Milk (or milk alternative or just use all 8 cups water!)

1. Spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick spray or your choice of oil. Coconut oil is great!

2. Combine ingredients together and add to crockpot at bed time set to 8 hours on low.

3. In the morning add a baby food your baby really likes as a topping to the oatmeal for added flavor and nutrition!

Your whole family will like this recipe!

I specially love adding Sweet Potato Apple Carrot And Cinnamon Gerber Lil’ Bites as it tastes like FALL to me and goodness we have waiting and waited for the crisp cool weather with the warm yummy flavors. For a great sweet light flavor for baby try Pear Apple Berry Gerber Lil’ Bites. Lil’ Bites is made with babies who are crawling that are 8 – 12 months old. This kind of food is great for introducing baby to different textures and flavors. Lil’ Bites has small bites of food to help baby learn to chew and eat solids. No added starch, no artificial flavors or colors.
