An Elegant Gift to Consider – California Wine Review

For the Love of Wine

It might shock you to know that I am not the kind of girl that always has wine in the house. I don’t like drinking wine alone and my wine loving friends are spread out across the planet at this point. All the military moves have taken it’s toll on my drinking habits. To wind down you are more likely to find me curled up with a good book, tea, and chocolate. I however am a geek and lack that elegant touch some of my other friends have in spades. They are the ones I normally go to for wine advice. So when given the chance to review wine, I thought about them right away. This was my chance to talk wine again and connect over a happy topic.

My husband, also not often one to drink was happy about this chance. He quickly researched the wines sent and planned meals to pair with them. I have to admit, he has had more of the wine than I have and he really has enjoyed them both, and he is not even a beer guy. My geekly husband now wants to keep wine in the house at all times.

So what wine caused this change in our home? Both Bottles are from a small american business, Roblendo Family Winery. One was the 2009 “Seven Brothers” Napa Valley Tempranillo and the other 2008 “Seven Brothers” Lake Country Sauvignon Blanc. We tried the Sauvignon Blac first, paired with a veggie white pizza. One might not think Pizza and Wine but it was wonderful. The second bottle was opened for a pork chop dinner night and it tastes perfect together, the red really complemented the meat. Over the next few days my husband finished the white, after near a week the red was still nice, dare I say it, I might have enjoyed it even more. Keeping red wine a week or longer is not recommended though, the oxygen can turn it to vinegar.

I had some lovely photos to share of these wines and dinners but sadly the computer they had been on died and so I am at a loss. Next months wine photos will be posted though I promise. There is something about a beautiful bottle of wine that makes one smile right?

There is just something fun about getting wine in the mail!

The California Wine Club has gift packages perfect for any of the wine lovers in your life, and they range in prices but are all perfect in my opinion of course.
