This is an adorable apple app that my children and I reviewed on our ipad 2. It was supposed to be given to us free but alas, I am not sure how to use the code the sent us. It is worth the 1.99 purchase though and I knew this because of the free pages it shares.
The story can be read to the child by the program and while it is being read the page is slightly animated and it is interactive as well. It is not a lot of interaction, not too much so that the story is lost. It is all in the details that makes this story so wonderful. It must be said that this story was not originally in English and I do not think the narrator spoke english as a first language. This might be why her voice is so entrancing and pleasant to listen to.
All 4 of my children enjoyed this app. It is very well put together and the art work is some of the best I have seen on children’s books so far on apps. The mood of the story is very child like and beautiful. It is full of wonder and childhood emotions. Two of my children now want dragon hats for winter by the way. I think I might make them other kinds of hats so they can come up with adventure stories all their own. I think treasure is an important part of child hood and so this is yet another reminder to keep giving my children treasure. Often I given them broken necklaces or rings that do not fit or other shiny things. They love their “treasure” and now I think will be looking in every well they see just in case they can find Dragons treasure too.
