Don’t Forget The AudioBooks Mommy!

It is that time of year again for many homeschoolers. We are neck deep in dotting all our I’s and crossing all the T’s. It is reporting time. Year after year in the State of Maryland around this time homeschooling parents meet with the state to go over what their children have been learning. It can be a bit intimidating honestly and it seems every country has an inspector that wants to see something different than the last.

For my family, we pay the protection money, or rather the tuition money and are a part of a homeschooling umbrella that is one of the few secular groups in the state. We also meet up with those who run the group, but normally at field trips. It is low stress and great for the kids. Unlike others though, we have to send in end of year reports and these have to very detailed. I always feel like I am forgetting something. This year I almost forgot to add the audio books we use. They are a resource and they count too. We have a lot of them in part because we travel so much and audiobooks are great for trips. They keep everyone entertained and can add educational value too. Plus they help keep the driver awake.

We are going away on vacation again soon and I am going to be sure to put the alice in wonderland audiobook on our ipod to pipe through the van speakers for the kids. While our oldest has read the story, our little ones have not! I also need to find an audiobook that includes something about bats as they are the next theme project the kids will be working on. While we are already starting to count the weeks till the end of the school year, we homeschool year around so it seems like I am forever planning, gathering resources, and helping with lessons. We can never have too many books, e-books, or audiobooks. Never!
