Don’t Back Down — The Bully Effect

One would hope that beyond school that a bully would grow up. Do you know one that didn’t? You might. There are so many of them in the adult world now even that there are laws coming together about this very issue!

Cyberbullying and cyberstalking are not taken lightly. What happens online does not stay online and charges can be brought up.

If someone on the internet is harassing you, stalking you and keeping files about you on their computers or sharing them online to harm you, if they are lying about you. You don’t just have to take it. Learn about your local laws. There are only two states without anti-bully laws at the moment and while most pertain to students the laws are expanding to protect adults as well. Computer forensic specialists will tell you that information is never truly erased from a computer, which could help local law enforcement assist you in putting an end to the bullying.

I wanted to bring this up before my break as I saw a case of both the above by adults and was very saddened by it and feel very badly for the victims. I wanted them to know, for all of us to know that you can’t back down from them and ignoring them as once thought only goes so far. Let others know about what is being done to you. Many times in online communities they can get banned for such actions. We need to help show our children what is right, we need to also protect them from such violence.

People have lost jobs, children, marriages, money, businesses, education, and their lives even because of cyberbullying and cyberstalking. Don’t take it lightly!

Thank you for your post. I agree that people need to take action against cyberbullies. It is important to remember, though, not to engage the bully, but to document anything they do or say and report it to the proper authorities. Engaging the bullies will generally only make things worse.
