Breast Milk Baby Lotion

~~~~~~~
Considering that breast milk has been used on babies to clear up their skin, on rashes, and for pink eye it is shocking to me now that I never tried this! Why put premade lotions on babies when their mothers are making milk naturally designed just for them? Did you know Mamas milk changes based on her babies needs and in response to illness the baby might have? Did you know each teaspoon of breast milk has 3 MILLION cells designed to fight germs even? It is amazing, so of course I think breast milk baby lotion is brilliant! So thankful Krysti posted about it and let me share, you inspire!
    I made this recipe and found that after he lotion sat in the fridge overnight it had hardened almost completely, is this normal or maybe i added too much beeswax??
      It shouldn’t be solid like a rock but it will be hard when cold not because of the beezwax so much as the coconut oil. You know how that is solid at room temp and harder still when cold?
    Would this be okay for excena near my daughter’s eye?
      I would use just fresh breastmilk for that as babies rub their eyes and no one wants and essential oil in their eye right?
    Can this be frozen for longer storage? Also can you use frozen breast milk or is fresh expressed best ?
    • Great question: Breast Milk lotion can be frozen, it can also be made with frozen breast milk. The rule I have always been told was that normally for consumption, breastmilk can be frozen for up to a year. (some go by 6 months). You can’t refreeze thawed breastmilk of course but in this case, no one is eating it so the bacteria component of the “why” we don’t refreeze it is a moot point. To be safe, I would store it in small amounts to be taken out and then used rather than taken out and refrozen over and over. I would trust this up to a year but knowing me I would go up to two years inspecting it well and using on my own skin to make sure it still feels amazing before putting it on baby.
