Miss Smiley is 8 months old now! She is still nursing and it is a blessing. I am trying hard to come to terms with the fact that it is only part time. She was failing to thrive and her Dr insisted on formula without a word to how to work on supply or tests to see if it could be something else. It is not a shock though as two older siblings FTT as well, though sooner than this little one. We however went from just a bottle or two durring the day to now only nursing at bed and in the morning. I hope my supply can recover for her.
I am one of those mothers who honestly has a physical problem breastfeeding. It is not common, not at all. While some people might “try” to nurse, I bleed, cry, and pump for hours, day after day, week after week and month after month. I get help from the experts. I try all the herbs and prescription medications. I use a SNS. Have rented hospital grade pumps, and have spent thousands of dollars on trying to nurse my babies. I do all the right things and still I fail. I made it 8 months with Mr Handsome. I made it 12 months with Storm Baby. I dreamed of years with Miss Smiley but to my sorrow I don’t think I can give it to her. Unlike her older siblings though, she does not fight nursing at this point. Just one short nursing strike and our relationship is bright. She really lifts my spirits, yes, along with my shirt. She is so very very cute.
