Day 61

Lego Land!

Hopepixie was thrilled to learn when we got here that the local homeschool umbrella group we are part of has a class at Lego Land! It is a robotics type of class and she loves it. She still loves the basic legos and kits though and this is the one she came home with after one of her first classes. It is a Harry Potter kit! She sat and read the directions and put it together piece by piece into the wee hours of the night and was very proud of herself. I giggle and think how different her and I are as I would have dove into the project as a child blind without directions just to see what I could guess right first. Crystal really values things being laid out for her. So many parents, including my husband and I at times, comment on how they wish the kids would see a mess and do the logical thing and clean it up. This is well and good but many children do not see life as we do, our logic does not make sense to them. Lists however for some children do. I was a child that wanted to jump in and see what would happen, Crystal however wants things laid out so she knows what will happen before it does. She doesn’t see a mess and think to pick it up, she is busy thinking about plans she made if she has no list to go by. So if we put the mess on the list, she will then see it logically as something to do. Just walking by it though, without it on her predictable plan, without it on a list, she just does not see it. So we have to work with how she works. Plan how she plans. It works out. Even if as her Mommy I don’t love lists as much as she does!

That is my Scheeli! Bet they’d get along fabulously! I’ve been tempted to get the homeschool Lego robotics kit. And the lists and predictable schedule, exactly!
