Day 1

Another year and another year past and so much has changed, so many ups and downs and turn arounds. You however reading this are well aware of what life is like. It might look a little different than most if you too homeschool, peacefully parent and are over all a bit crunchy. A homebirth is not as “crazy” and rushed and busy as a hospital birth but it sure if different. I sometimes forget just how different some of the things my family does actually is from many people. Some ask such detailed and thoughtful questions and I find I can hardly remember as the odd things to others are common to us. I want to remember better, I want to have a place to point to in order to give those who ask about some of these things a window into what our less than common ways look like. So here is my challenge, 365 photo blogging. I will try and take a photo a day and blog about it! I will not blog that very day as things are a bit too busy but I will take the photo and I will get them done in small groups hopefully before I forget why I took that very photo for the day. This is photo number 1 and dear to my heart.

This is Mr Handsome, my son who is 5 years old and my Meme (How I have always written it but really it should be Mère) Irene. She is 93 years old and until this past winter still lived alone in her house taking care of herself. She fell a few times though and so my Father, her only child, took her in to make sure she is not alone and can be cared for. The above photo was our first holiday vacation home in 7 years. It was everything I wanted it to be. Two weeks of family time. Fun, relaxing, and so much time to connect. Dad and Step Mom where wonderful, loved having the littles around, and very patient. It was a wonder to watch as my raising was very… different and very heavy handed and loud. Things change and I am glad they have in that home.

In the photo Mr Handsome and Meme are looking at a book that was a gift for Christmas/Yule. I had no idea when Santa picked it out that it would be such a hit for both young and old. This is the book and also a link to my own site to order. Ordering with me helps make sure Mr Handsome and his sisters get all the books they could want!
Book

The book is #1 best seller for the publisher but I still did not believe it would be such a hit. The book has a little mouth that you weave through the pages on an adventure though a house. It is silly and cute. I personally thought it would be whimsy or use more interesting words but as it turns out it is perfect in the eyes of my children, specially Mr Handsome. If by chance he loses his special mouse for the book, the back cover shows us how to make another one! Hands down his favorite book now and Meme loved it too.

It was hard leaving on the 1st of the year, my Meme asked over and over to come with us. She said the children and I make her less lonely. I tried not to cry when she said this. We just moved from across the country to the east coast and we have been away so so long. Now we can visit often and I can do my best to make her days brighter.

I love my Meme.
Meme says I have not changed a bit. She doesn’t see all the weight I have gained over the years with 6 babies in 10 years! hehehehe
Meme reminded me over and over so seriously that I have a perfect husband and never in all her 100 years (She says she is 100 years old) has she met a man as wonderful as he is, specially with the kids and how I was a wonderful child and deserve him. I know she is right, it just makes me giggle to have her tell me near everyday for two weeks and to see my husband blush about it. LOL
