Home Births should be normal Births!
Growing up in New England I got the idea that hospital births are normal births. I went on to have 4 of them before finally being brave enough to do what research and my heart had been telling me to do the whole time.
I had my next two babies at home. Peaceful and Healthy.
It is however not something “normal” for my society.
I was so pleased to read that Dannii Minogue a Australasian Star said that growing up in England she felt like home births are normal births. What I would give to experience that and to have my children growing up in that kind of society. Specially considering the high infant and mother mortality rate in the US due in part because of hospital intervention complications.
While Dannii had to transfer from her home to the hospital where she had a healthy baby at the urging of her midwife, she would still want her next birth to be at home if at all possible.
While there are risks in child birth no matter where the location it would be nice to see the home birth get a fair and equal spot when someone mentions “normal birth.”
