Change in the Air

This blog has changed it’s name! Our Hope Pixie daughter in all her 9 year old wonder and 9 year change, would like to re-name her homeschool. We are not sure yet just what the new name will be. I feel like though this blog could be a lot more. That being said, welcome to Growing Hope!

Change, it is that time of year for many of us to make resolutions to change things that do not really fit. I think many people do not give themselves enough credit though, they change and many do not even see it. This winter I am trying to focus on seeing it. A short list of how we have changed as a family would be:

Cloth diaper! (never thought we would so this just 5 years ago!)
Use un-paper towels.
Freecycle (wow I really can use other peoples “junk” and they want mine!)
Co-Sleeping
Baby Wearing
Home Birthing
Faith Changing
Battled hard to breastfeed as long as possible.
Going more holistic.
Buying hand made when ever possible.
No more cable for over a year now!

The list could go on and on. Not to mention the countless ways we have helped our children learn. Goodness, never say never! We said we would not unschool, we did! We said we would not classic school, we did! We said we would never push, we did! And in the end we learned so much from it all. Now we are walking a Waldorf inspired path that is all our own I think. We have unschooling times, times when let them lead, time when we lead by example, and time where we just simply teach with joy and lots of color! So much change.

It is not longer as scary for me as it once was, my past has me feeling confident that when I stumble, and I will, that I will find balance again and be more mindful for it. The very think I tell my children, it will be ok. It has to be.

So what changes are going on in your life? Are you scared? Challenged? Excited?

Can you guess what we are planning for this coming year? Yes, I am excited but already a lot feels like a challenge!
