The Bad Homeschooling Days!

In a commitment to show others that things are not perfect in blogging world, no matter what most blogs show, I wanted to share a bit about a bad homeschooling day.
In short my oldest daughter was grumpy about getting into trouble and I gave her an easy art project to do so she could get what she wanted as I always try to find some way to say yes. She however kept arguing in hopes that I would cave and just let her go out. I held my ground however as I am the parent.
One of the biggest issues was her saying she could not find art supplies and while I told her she could use ANY medium she wanted for this project, she wanted to paint.
She said she could not find ANY Orange anything in the house, never mind paint.
I was so aggravated knowing this was not true.
Her attitude was getting to me.
In comes the husband and things just get worse!
He did not understand why I wanted the project done and in short was mistakenly defending her while he needed to be backing me up. Sound familiar? Friends tell me they deal with this. I am not used to things on this side though and it really really made for a bad day.
(This was a few days ago)
Fast forward to last night, a no screen time allowed had the same oldest daughter looking for things to do on her own. No assignments, just her spending her time around the house she choose. She went and found a lot of our paint supplies (And there is STILL more not in this photo) and went to town painting. As did her siblings when they found said paint on the kitchen table today. They had a blast.
In short, there is lots of orange paint in the house.
My teenager is normal.
Some days I need more patience.
Not all days are wonderful here.
-sigh-
If the worst though is that I am arguing about an art assignment with my teen rather than something worse, I think we are doing good. However bigger things are coming and I need to make sure I am solid enough to deal peacefully and mindfully.
Course I am dreaming if I think it will go smooth. LOL
