September 10 – What was your favorite subject in school?
Bring on the Books!
My favorite subject in school was English. I loved books and could never get enough of them. I would even spend my baby sitting money on them. I loved doing book reports and talking about books in classes. I have a passion for learning and I do not think I would have that if I didn’t enjoy reading so much.
I wonder though if I would have such a lot for books had I grown up from the start with say an ipad or the internet? I adore books and even with technology I gather books, specially hard covers of beloved writers. While we are a homeschooling family this does not mean that I hates all parts of school. I loved English. I could be found in about my class reading books from my English class or just my for fun reading books. It bothered teachers and it bothered me that they tried to take away time I wanted to spend reading and following my own interests. I can laugh now about it but goodness I must have been a difficult student. I really was annoyed with the school system. It promised so much learning but it always seemed like it was holding me back. I would be deep into a subject and at the sound of a bell would have to drop what ever I was doing, as if it was not important, and move on to the next topic like a brainless computer CPU. The whole system seemed to lack respect for both students and teachers and important learning subjects in my opinion.
Yes, I must have been a hard student to deal with!
My favorite subject was English as well. You brought up a good point – I wonder if we had the technology of today then, if it would have affected the amount of reading we did? Interesting 🙂
My son (3 yo) knows how to operate an iPad and I hope it doesn’t take away from his love of reading. I hope it enjoys it as much as I do! 🙂

I’m the same way-grabbing books, instead of using the technology.
My favorite subject was English also, but I prefer writing. 🙂
