Are Motorcycles Green?

My dear darling oldest daughter really enjoying riding on the back of her Pepes motorcycle. It was a big scary for me as a mother honestly but I trust my Dad to drive safe. Other cars are the real issues with this I think.

I was talking to my dad who mentioned how green motorcycles are. They are great on gas mileage but also certain kinds of pollutants. Worse on smog though but seeing many riders do not ride for long distances they tend to not go as far thus saving the environment a bit more.

The issue with motorcycles is that they have built to be cost effective and not changed all that much over the years while cars are moving forward and getting better and better. That soon shall change though and for some brands it already is.

According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, motorcycle manufacturing requires thousands fewer pounds of raw materials than automobiles. They require less fossil fuel, so they require less energy to pull that fossil fuel out of the ground. They use fewer chemicals and oils than cars. And motorcycles produced today are 90% cleaner in California than they were 30 years ago.”

My husband has thought about getting one for the cost effective side of things and now that we know our oldest daughter likes them maybe this will be a step closer to that for us. If we go get one I want this motorcycle helmet!

To a more practical person, riding a bike is not about the freedom, the excitement and the sense of being one with the road. But it is the best way they see in order to save fuel or gas. Aside from that, a motorcycle is easy to park, has cheaper road tax, can help you avoid heavy traffic and easy to maintain.
