I lay here typing this with a smile on my face enjoying my home at just the right temp, a house full of children playing, and everything seems right with the world at the very moment. Except one thing…. someone is messing with me!
You see I am secular blogger. Faith and religion are topics to me much like mythology. I believe it has value. I love that many of my friends believe so deeply and I am happy for them. I am even more happy when they accept that I do not believe as they do. Not all of them are so accepting though.
I am reminded of this as I look at a pile of mail one can only label as religious marketing. Some how a nick name of mine and my address has gotten on many lists for different religious propaganda and such. If you know me, you know there is not a chance I signed up for this. Someone in a small circle must have done this. A small circle who knows me by this nick name and knows my address. Being a military wife I move often so it really limits the amount of people who could do this to about 80, and thinking about those who might it is really limited to about 5 people. What to do what to do….
What could be the point I wonder? Either they really want to enlighten me, or they really want to annoy me. I feel rather badly for the waist of trees and resources gone into this. Trying to annoy the secular blogger is not really a worthy use of ones time. It is though what it is and I am not really as annoyed as I am confused but at the same time amused. Am I that special that one would try so hard to get me saved? hehehehe Or perhaps I am that special as to be seen as a threat to annoy? I promise I am not that special people!
I am just a tree hugging greekly Mommy goddess who happens to believe in science, love nature, and not believe in others imaginary friends until I see him for myself! It really is a “me” issue and not one anyone of faith needs to worry about. My beliefs will not change yours and I would not ask you to believe as I do. I just ask that you not expect me to believe as you do either. Win Win! Plus this lets us have some really interesting conversations!
So if my dear admirer would please sign me up for say free vacations or science magazines that would be wonderful! 🙂
