This is adorable – Chicks in Dresses

Chick_Skirts

So far, we are loving backyard chickens. Granted our 6 chicks are still in the garage as they are little and it is cold out. We have read that the right time to get them outside into a coop and run are at 8 weeks so we have about 4 weeks left. This is a good thing as we still need time to build the coop! We also kind of need time to learn how to mow the yard. I know, it isn’t rocket science but we haven’t done it yet. We just got a used mower! Lets call it going green getting a used one rather than a new one. Or you could call it what it actually is, me being cheap! The fact is that we don’t know how long we will be living here and it makes things a little hard to plan. I didn’t want to get a great new riding lawn mower just to find out the landlord wants to sell this place and then we have to move to some place else where we do not even need a riding mower. Oh the fun of the unknown! I really do need to just ask the landlord what his plans are! If he says he wants us here for a few years than I am going to do a lot more to this place like put some trees and bushes and gardens in! Till I know though, best to step carefully and be thankful the landlord is letting us rent and have chickens on this 2 acres. How long is it going to take to mow it all I wonder?

I must apologise for the rambling. We have been dealing with so much lately and the simple things, like adorable chickens in cute cupcake liners as dresses and talking about the yard is nice and distracting from it all. My friend Rebecca actually gave me the idea/shove to try this little cute project. I loved the chance to take photos of them and finally get them more on the blog here. The kids love playing with the chicks and caring for them and helping us try to get the chicks use to us as a family. So far, so good! (with one exception but that is a post for another day.) I would like to thank all the GA Chicken Chatters on BackYardChicken forum for all the great advice they have shared. If your interested in back yard chickens feel free to contact me or comment below. I am happy to help or point you in the right direction to figure things out!

Goodness having chickens is making for an interesting homeschool project! More on this later as well!
