3 eco-friendly wrapping tips!

I am behind on wrapping honestly and with 4 kids this means I have a lot of work to catch up on. I wanted to take a moment though and share a few things for other parents like me who dislike all the waist of the holidays and want to do something about it.

 1. Playsilks!

Playsilks are something you can purchase often online from some great kids shops. If you need help finding them, just let me know. In short, you can tie them up in ways to wrap packages nicely and they are then a toy and not thrown away! Very easy and they are beautiful. Average price for a large one seems to be about $7 though so keep that in mind.

 2. Fabric Bags

You can buy cheap fabric bags on different sites online or you can make them yourself. I used scrap fabric I had to make the bag below with no sewing even. I had an odd shaped gift and so a fabric bag was perfect in so many ways. I made sort of a braid up the sides keeping it closed.

You can find this way of making something from fleece by searching online under no-sew fleece blanket how to.

 3. Furoshiki!

This is a traditional japanese wrapping cloth. It is eco-friendly and easy to do. You can buy cloth already made to the common sizes or you can sew them yourself. There are certain ways to fold the cloth around your packages for this style. The best way to learn I have found is to search for videos of it online. It is so much faster in my opinion, and my husbands, thank wrapping with paper and tape and better for the planet too!

I hope these tips help give you some ideas on eco-friendly wrapping and that you can pick one or all to research and dive into. I know there is not a lot of time left but I am betting a lot of you have fabric around that could help a lot with keeping your holiday greener!

Happy Holidays!
