21 Day Sugar Detox – Fail

On day 13 I choose to quit. I just wasn’t ready. I didn’t prep well enough, didn’t have my mind wrapped around it well enough. The biggest issue I think though was not cooking enough meals and having enough food on the ok list available at any given time.

When I saw a post from the moderators of the 21 Day Sugar Detox about how some of them didn’t finish this detox the first few times, or cheated on them something clicked, I didn’t have to keep suffering. I could stop and try again after I learn more.

So that is now my plan. Learn more, prepare, and go at this again in March. What was I thinking trying this in February anyway? My most favorite of chocolate holidays.

This is not to say I am back to eating a lot of sugar but I am enjoying other fruits (One can only have green apples or green tip bananas on the 21dsd) I am still going to be gluten free as well. I tried gluten when I broke the detox and goodness was that a mistake. I felt so sick after and days later I am still not feeling well.

I just couldn’t take the fact that some how I gained weight, and the fact that I felt so terrible. My head hurt, I couldn’t think clearly, I had no energy, and no patience with anything. My emotions where all over the place.

The next sugar detox starts in the facebook group on March 4th. I hope to be better ready for it. You should look into it if you think it might help you too!

Ive had this problem before too. We have cut back A LOT but we still have small amounts of sugar in our home. Quitting all togehter just seems too hard sometimes.

Sugar is a big problem for me. I get craving for chocolate, ice cream etc. I have found that eating sugar free products works better for me. I have also eliminated sugared pop which is helping me lose weight too.

I have tried to cut back sugar in our home but cutting it out completely has been more of a challenge. Good luck on next go round

  4. Hi, I found you on the blogging planner blog hop. I haven’t done the 21 day sugar detox but we are gluten and dairy free in our home because my son has autism and this diet has made the biggest difference in his life. It has taught me so much about nutrition and how our bodies just don’t function properly on the typical junk we eat. Good luck next time!

Wow, don’t feel bad about it. For Lent, most Catholics give up something like a food. Once, I gave up hamburgers (fast food) and even though I didn’t give it up after Lent, I find myself not having it as much anymore anyways. Like you I did change some of my behavior, not all. You feel empowered and healthy doing it during AND after. Kudos for you for even making it 21 days.

sugar detox? Wow that’s hard to achieve. I have to have my daily dose of sugar everyday or else i’ll be sleepy!

Don’t give up, dear. Once you’re free from sugar you will feel a great boost of energy and sleep so much better. Me and my husband finished the challenge after the 3rd try 🙂 Are you doing the detox from Tim’s blog (http://timreviews.com/21daysugardetox)? We tried some other sugar detox programs but this is the first one that ‘clicked’ with me after a lot of trial and error.
    Thank you,
    Irissa

Thank you so much for the support Irissa! That is the detox I used and will do again in March. It helps to know others stuck to it and finished and how much it helped them! I am so glad you commented. I needed your words more than I knew!
