You shouldn’t homeschool because

While wondering the interwebs a message board topic caught my attention and it seems that of many others. It starts like this:

How the heck can you homeschool your kids when you can’t write a coherent sentence yourself? — Anonymous

Aaargh! It annoys me to no end. Yes, as parents you should have a say in your child’s education, but that does not mean that you should homeschool if you are barely educated yourself. I just wish there was some sort of accountability when it comes to homeschooling.

“We home school ’em. I teach the big ones, and the big ones teach the little ones, but nobody taught me, so the whole thing is an exercise in futility. ” Cletus

While a well written letter can give the smallest of people the largest of voices it is not in the end the whole of ones being. It neither encompasses all of ones intelligence nor does it limit them to your judgment. We all have judgments of course but manners tell us when it is not ok to share them. Logic further tells us we should have a bit more humility than think we can know a persons education simply by reading what they might write in any given setting.
My IQ is high, I am educated, but I am also a very busy mother who honestly not fracking care enough about informal communications to worry about grammar or spelling. I was one of those poor children failed by a school system and given labels that stated I would never learn to spell. Clearly that was wrong but it took research and practice in ways no school teaches. Having far exceeded expectations I now live up to the genius I was also labeled with in other areas.
In the end I think raising a child with morals and character and the love of learning and tools to learn anything they wish far exceeds any lacking a homeschooling parent might have in either formal education or inclination to care about the subject of English when communicating in situation that are not of import to them.
In closing, you might wish to take some kindergarten classes as social skills seem to be lacking. M’kay!

I have no idea who the person who posted this thread is, in fact I am not even a member of the board in question. I gather that few actually do know the person as they are too cowardly to even stand by their judgement with their own name or real experience. Rather pathetic if you ask me and if you have not noticed I am rather angry about it. A very educated artist can homeschool, though though they might not be able to write themselves directions out of a paper bag, this does not mean they can not homeschool their child successfully. Even Einstein himself lamented his mathematics skills and called in mathematicians to help him. We can not all glow in the spotlight of English, goodness knows I do not.
If you have not noticed I don’t edit my posts, I don’t filter them either. I have so little time as is that what is real, what is raw, is what I put before you. Of course your going to judge, but thank you dearly to those who  are kind enough not to point out my errors as your smart enough to know they are not the point.

If you have so little time to post and are always so rushed, why don’t you wait until you have time, or else not post?

Gosh, so sorry you’re threatened by not being able to construct a coherent sentence. When all anyone sees are words, words are how you present yourself. Guess it’s too scary to take the time to proofread?

Like most great parents know, if you wait till the perfect time to have children, you will never have them. It is the same for me and many others with blogging and posting. Life is short, live in the moment.

I wonder about the lives of those though that have time to pick over grammar and judge others for it.

One must love the Anonymous posters. LOL Big opinions as long as they can not be called out on them. I think this speaks greatly to the character of people actually!

I am sorry but just as life is too short for many of us to worry about the finer points of grammar when spending our online time away from out children, so too is life too short to deal with a spineless bully.

I think you can read but I might be wrong. The thread I am talking about was never about me, though I can connect with it obviously. I choose to not judge those I do not know for how they type. I however have little patience for a bully. Funny how those who are a bully often think themselves so very funny? Gosh, easy to try and be hurtful when you can hide who you are. Too scary to stand by your words or too scary to prove what little morals and manners one has? I rather spend too little time proofreading than clearly and more time on things that matters. If in your shoes I would be more worried about lack of character on your part. We all have issues though, wishing you the best with your own!

There are too many anonymous people in the world wanting to decide things about other people. What you read on the blogging world doesn’t reflect the person. It’s only a small part of the person. There is also a lot more to education than english. There are also a lot more ways to learn it. There are pros and cons to everything and I think it should be up to each family if they choose to send their child to school or homeschool.

    I very much agree Susan!

On an illuminating note, my dear Anonymous has not graced me with her judgement since I changed the setting to not allow people to hide behind the anonymous curtain.
