What I wish for the world!

This is the topic of this years Doodle 4 Google that all school aged children can enter this year. We spent weeks on this topic. My oldest came up with many ideas. We watched movies like Pay if Forward and read books about basic needs. Her ideas first focused on healthy food and safe homes and moved to war. Her father is a soldier so this is a topic on her mind and in her heart. We colored a lot of her ideas with out her knowing the goal was to put them into a Google doodle. Then she thought about things that make others happy. Happy people do not war is her thinking. Then we brought in the logo for doodle and she made the letters into many different toys. We looked together online at how in the past google has changed their logo to fit holidays and she noticed they has made it the word PIMPLE once, using the same font and colors of the google letters. She came up with the idea to change hers into Goplay and we went with it having read simple is better. I thought going simple would be hard for her but it went really well. She then colored her and I swinging and it seemed perfect. So that is what she sent into google for the contest.

I love the fact that google was clear that they welcomed homeschoolers in this contest. Both the topic and the art and time together made for fun winter into spring classes. I think she her wish is wonderful. She wishes everyone in the world had time to go play.

Here is a draft of the picture she sent in.
