Update: Egg Candling

I wanted to take a quick minute and update everyone on our chicken eggs in the incubator! Here are some photos:

 Candle Egg C

This is egg C, one of the little tan colored eggs out of the bunch. Clear movement seen and doing great!

EggL

L is one of the larger white colored eggs, not that you can tell from the photo. Movement in there too!

EggR

R is another of the smaller eggs, a bit darker colored than C is.

SpeckledEgg

This is egg X and I am a bit worried about this speckled little guy. See the red ring around embrio sac? Weird little one!

TealEggG

And this is G, very hard to get a photo of as it very dark inside. The top though shows the egg is clearly a green teal color. So interesting. The kids really have enjoyed learning about not all eggs are like the ones from most stores, not all are white or brown and that does not mean the eggs are not any good.

My last update is rather sad, egg “i” stopped developing. Our 5 year old was specially sure to say sweet things to it and say good bye. So we are down to 22 possible chicks come next Monday!

I’ve never heard of doing such a thing but then I never raised chickens. Fascinating! ; )
