Top 5 City Cars

As one of the most popular vehicle types nowadays, the amount of city cars on offer can be overwhelming. There are number of factors to consider, which might help you to narrow down your search, including: size, weight, handling ability, aesthetics, and comfort. The list below, constructed by Gareth Mason of Mason Motors features models that have been selected for their outstanding performance in these areas, making them excellent choices for urban driving.

Suzuki Ignis

You may be surprised to see the Ignis as one of the most popular city cars, but its quirkiness sets it apart from the rest. This little Suzuki has received a lot of interest from buyers since its launch due to its fun character as well as its value for money.

The 1.2litre petrol engine offers plenty of get-up-and-go and is considerably economic.

Hyundai i10

It is no surprise, however, that the Hyundai i10, ranks so high amongst the top city cars currently on the market. It is a very mature model with a roomy cabin, which boasts extreme quality.

This city car can also achieve 0-62mph in almost 15 seconds with a small 1.0 litre engine, and is beneficial if you are looking for low running costs. All in all, the i10 is a great little motor that handles both the longer trips and the urban grind very well.

Volkswagen Up

While the Volkswagen Up might be a tiny bit pricier than its Skoda and SEAT competitors, there is a classy feel to the interior and even the exterior that makes it very justifiable.

The 63mpg engine is extremely economical and great for long drives.

Skoda Citigo

Admittedly, the Skoda Citigo is very similar to its rival the SEAT Mii, and there is little to pick apart from each of them. However, the interior luxury aesthetics of the Citigo and the exterior beauty makes it a very desirable motor.

Fiat 500

The Fiat 500 is as popular now as when it was first launched six decades ago. This has to be due to its retro looks and comfortable interior that makes it a car everybody wants to drive.

It isn’t the most engaging drive, but it still has the capacity to entertain. The TwinAir model is an unusual two-cylinder engine and while it falls short of its claimed economy figures, you should still be seeing more than 45mpg.
