A Valentine Worth Saving For
This infographic beings back memories of my own engagement 15 years ago. I spent most of the day alone the 9th of February, my boy friend traveling far and wide trying to find the perfect ring. By the time he showed up I was feeling rather sad and very confused. I had thought I was going to get time with him that day. It was so late that the first gift he gave me was a night gown. (We had been living together for a while by then) I went to go try it on and by the time I came out there was music, candles, and him on bended knee. I could hardly get past the bathroom and in my shock I just kept thinking, “darn it, I will forever remember the bathroom in this memory, he couldn’t have waited 1 more minute?” He just couldn’t though. He had planned like so many to give me the ring over a beautiful dinner on Valentines Day but couldn’t wait. Now all these years later I am so glad he didn’t wait. We have our special day, 5 days before most couples. The restaurants are not as full and it just feels more special, even if I do recall the bathroom in my memory of him asking. 🙂
I don’t remember how much he paid for the ring or other gifts all these years later. I can say that each year we do something special, like last year was a bed and breakfast in a town we used to to love visiting as friends. It was way better than a card. (How do cards cost $15?) This year we are not traveling but I can say we are getting a puppy!
February promises to be a special month for us this year as well. I hope it is for all of you too!
Very cute post <3
WOW, that story is so very sweet! I so love sweet engagement stories. This story is better than “the perfect picture” because it’s yours. You tell it beautifully.
By the way, i really love quaint Bed & Breakfasts. I so loved staying in them (when I was sans kids) in New England. So hospitable!
Super cute post! I love looking over stuff like this, so interesteing!
I loved the infographic, but I’ll remember your story the most. How sweet!
Wow this is such a great post! I love getting practical gifts!
