Spring Tips: If you’re not playing fetch like this you are missing out!

This post is sponsored by Chuckit! but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Finally, spring is here! #Doglife, of course, means that springtime is fetch time! If you have a dog that loves to fetch you are already on top of your dog own game, if you aren’t playing fetch yet though, your beloved fur baby is missing out!

Why play Fetch?

  • Fetch reinforces the bond you have with your dog.
  • Fetch encourages your dog to come back to you!
  • Often bad dog behavior is simple boredom or too much energy, Fetch helps with both!
  • Fetch is a great game when the owner has little energy to spare! (Check out the Chuckit! Dog Toy that helps you throw farther with less energy!)
  • Fetch is a natural K9 Behavior
  • You both need time in the sun to be healthy!

Spring is the perfect time to get back outside and play Fetch with your dog. For us, it has been a long, cold, and often overcast winter. While we had some good days, mostly dog park days were full of mud. Now spring is here and the sun is out and the grass is green we are all loving the weather. We are lucky to live near a big field and it is great for playing fetch. While are have a Labrador Retriever that will fetch about anything, he has a special love for a special ball…. The Chuckit! Ultra Ball and this thing holds up to a lot of fetch time!

As you can see, clearly our dog Zero LOVES his Chuckit! Ball a great deal. You can tell by that last photo the look of satisfaction he gets when he succeeds at getting the ball. He doesn’t always succeed though…. often he overshoots the ball, does this jumping twisting thing and ends up on the ground for a minute missing it all together! Owning a dog is so often so entertaining! The best though is seeing them happy.

While you can play fetch with many things, I think your dog is missing out if you don’t have the right toys to hold up to this kind of needed and active play. Chuckit! has many toys to help you and your dog succeed at fetch!

TIP: If your dog doesn’t play fetch yet, try starting within the house, even if in a small space and reward your dog for even following the tossed toy and then for picking it up, and then for bringing it back.

 Spring Dog Tips:

1. Perfect time to get to the vet for a check up!

2. Make sure your dog is up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm medications. We have already found a tick this year and it has only been nice for a week!

3. Owning a dog is a lifestyle choice. Plan to spend at least an hour a day outside playing. Research the best dog parks and beaches in your area!

4. Great time to get your dog groomed and looking fantastic!

5. Don’t forget to get your dog outdoor new toys! A busy and tired dog is a well-behaved dog!

Of course, our dog is always ready to play before we are!

When is the last time you played Fetch with your dog?

Is he good at it?

  1. My babies have crossed over at 15 and 18 years old but they loved fetch and tug of war. Those were their two favorite games to play. Your dog is beautiful and looks like such a great companion!

  2. These are all great springtime tips for our pets. I’ve done all except #4 because the vet said his skin is dry. I will take him for grooming once it doesn’t look so flaky. My dog will play fetch until it feels like my arm is going to fall off. I’m worn out way sooner than he is, lol.

  3. I love seeing your dog having so much fun. Your post brings back fond memories of our family dog growing up. Our black Lab, King loved playing fetch.

  4. Our dog lives to play fetch. At least he loves to run after the ball. Once he grabs it, he doesn’t like giving it up. We are up to date on all his meds.

  5. I have two dogs and they are not the fetch lovers that a lot of dogs are. My one shih tzu likes his toys so i will try and see how he does with fetch

You have to have one of those thrower things. Especially for an open field or beach

  7. I can see dogs having a blast with this! We only have cats, and they can be rather lazy.

  8. Oh what fun!! I’ve had 4 boxers in my life and none of them like to play fetch. I don’t know why they wouldn’t chase a ball but would chase the heck out of squirrels.

OH MY GOODNESS look how happy he looks. I do not have a dog but if I did I would very much buy this product and play fetch with him or her. So fun. Looks like great quality too.

I actually do not have a fur baby. However, this would be perfect for my friends dog.

  11. It looks like your dog is having such an awesome time playing fetch. There is something wonderful about being outside and playing with your dog isn’t there.

  12. Pam

This looks way better than just throwing the ball. Your wrist doesn’t get tired and you can throw it further,

  13. We actually got this for our puppy last month! She loves it. It’s her favorite thing.

  14. My dog doesn’t play fetch. What dog doesn’t play fetch??? That is a big disappointment for me.

Wow, this is such a great idea. Playing fetch with my dog is our bonding time and it is also my one way of exercising him.

  16. Catalina

This is so so cute and sweet! I really miss it!

  17. This looks like a ton of fun – I agree that it’s important to plan lots of outside time and stock up on fun toys to keep your pups entertained and active all summer long!

I do not have a dog of my own but I am sure dogs love fetch. We used to play with my cousin’s dog and enjoys it. Will share this with my cousin.

Sounds like a great way to keep a dog happy! I don’t own a dog but I am sure any dog would love to play fetch.

  20. If my dog loved to play fetch I would totally get this for her. Unfortunately she’s eight years old and still doesn’t understand the concept…LOL!!
